LAFAYETTE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Special Meeting

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

Notification, posting and advertising of this special meeting was consistent with the Lafayette Township Public Body Rule duly adopted by the board of trustees.

Chairman Butler called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. with trustees Don Butler and Lee Kehoe present. At 3:02 p.m. the meeting was recessed to move and immediately reconvene in conference room of the administrative offices.

At approximately 3:05 the meeting was reconvened in the administrative office conference room with Trustee Lynda Bowers joining. Chairman Butler made a motion to recess into executive session pursuant to ORC 121.22 for the purpose of discussing imminent court action with the township’s attorney and to consider the purchase or sale of real property as pursuant to ORC 121.22. Zoning Inspector Alliss Strogin, Assistant Prosecutor William Thorne and Medina County Economic Development Director Bethany Dentler were invited to join the executive session meeting.

Executive Session held.

The regular special meeting reconvened. Economic Development Director Ms.Dentler was requested to provide assistance to the board of trustees regarding a Community Reinvestment area application.

Trustees reviewed applications for appointments to the townships Zoning board and Board of Zoning Appeals. After a brief discussion, the following motions were made.

1. Chairman Butler made a motion to accept the resignations of Jack Blank and Nanci Shanley. Mr. Kehoe seconded the motion. All voting in favor, motion passed.

2. Chairman Butler made a motion seconded by Ms. Bowers to appoint Sherrie Meinke to the Zoning Board, term expiring 12/31/2013. All voting in favor, motion passed.

3. Chairman Butler made a motion seconded by Mr. Kehoe to appoint Peggy Folk and Matt Strehle as alternates to the Zoning board, Terms expiring 12/31/2009. All voting in favor, motion passed.

4. Ms. Bowers made a motion seconded by Chairman Butler to appoint Andrea Kacinari to the Board of Zoning Appeals, term expiring 12/31/2013; Lisa Takach to the Board of Zoning Appeals, term expiring 2012; and Dave Jenkins to the Board of Zoning Appeals, term expiring 2011. All voting in favor, motion passed.

5. Chairman Butler made a motion to appoint Jack Chester and Athena McAfee as alternates to the Board of Zoning Appeals, term ending 12/31/2009. All voting in favor, motion passed.

As there was no further business to come before the board, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 4:45 p.m.
