Workshop
Chairman Karen Schoonover called the meeting to order at
(1) Discussion took place relative to deadline dates for applications in order for them to be placed on the agenda for the next regular Board meeting. A calendar for those dates was distributed to the Board.
(2) The draft Lafayette Township Comprehensive Plan revision was discussed and reviewed by the Board specifically looking for policy points relating to implementation of zoning. It had been anticipated that when this revision was complete it would give guidance as to what areas of the current zoning code may need to be changed and what
other zoning issues may need to be addressed by this Board. There were some concerns that the Plan did not provide the substantive guidance that was needed for zoning in order to meet the future needs of the community.
In addition to reviewing the draft Lafayette Comprehensive Plan, the Board reviewed several other township/community plans that had been adopted. Discussion and input was provided by all present. It was also suggested that the Prosecutor’s Office review the Plan before its adoption by the Board of Trustees as it needs to be a legally defensible plan. After all discussion the consensus of the Board is that certain areas of the draft revision may be incomplete. This matter will be brought to the attention of the township trustees for their review and input as how to proceed.
