LAFAYETTE TOWNSHIP ZONING COMMISSION

Workshop

June 22, 2009 @ 6:30 p.m.

Chairman Karen Schoonover called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Roll call indicated five members of the Zoning Commission were present: Karen Schoonover, Russ Green, Sherri Meinke, Dianne Wenslow and Mike Biskup. Matt Strehle (alternate) was also present (6:40 p.m.).

Workshop Discussion

The Chippewa Lake area nonconforming lots issue was discussed with suggestions of minimum side yard setback footage depending on the lot frontage width, i.e. if 50’ frontage, then side yard setback of 10’ etc. Aerial maps and county tax maps indicating the size of various lots on Lake Road and the locations of houses/buildings were reviewed as shown on the county website. This matter will continue to be reviewed.

In addition discussion took place relative to possibly rezoning areas in Lafayette Township to enable the township to increase the tax base as well as being beneficial to the school. Areas of the township suggested for possible rezoning include all or portions of Lake Road, Lafayette Road and Wedgewood Road. The Board members are to review the permitted and conditional use language in the Light Manufacturing District and Local Commercial District to determine if any changes might be feasible and what direction to take.

The next regular meeting is Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at the township hall.

Upon motion by Karen Schoonover, duly seconded by Sherri Meinke, it was unanimous that the meeting be adjourned. Meeting adjourned at 8:33 p.m.
